Friday Five

Five things on my mind this Friday – enjoy your long weekend! xoxo

1. Decorating Inspiration I’ve been on a big decorating kick lately. While I haven’t been able to completely decorate my apartment, I have spent some time finding a good dose of inspiration via Pinterest. I’m ready to cover my walls with frames and also have a fantastic bookcase in the living room that is just screaming for attention.

2. Quotes

“The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.”

“The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.” - Maya Angelou

“Be proud of your mistakes. Well, proud may not be exactly the right word, but respect them, treasure them, be kind to them, learn from them. And, more than that, and more important than that, make them. Make mistakes. Make great mistakes, make wonderful mistakes, make glorious mistakes. Better to make a hundred mistakes than to stare at a blank piece of paper too scared to do anything wrong.” -Neil Gaiman

3. Holocene – Bon Iver I’m sure you’ve heard the song by now – but I still can’t stop replaying this video. It’s absolutely breathtaking – the view, the sound, everything. Enjoy!

4. Not For Sale Campaign I’ve posted about human trafficking before and how my friend Amy wore one dress for six months to raise awareness for human trafficking and the Daughter Project. Since moving to San Francisco, I’ve been following the Not For Sale campaign, an organization striving to end human trafficking through mindful knowledge and awareness. Read their mission –  Our collective challenge is simple: Stand with those who are enslaved, work together to free them, and empower them in their freedom to break the cycle of vulnerability. In October, I’m going to their large event, the Global Forum on Human Trafficking. So excited to get involved even more!

And if you know me, you know I love bracelets and bangles! Not For Sale has tons of jewelry for sale (along with other clothing and accessories). I’m in love with these liberty bracelets and necklaces – definitely need to purchase.

5. Awesome weekends An absolutely silly night out in San Francisco, an (early!) trip to Napa, a fun trip to Treasure Island Flea + awesome view of the city, FINALLY finding the Pittsburgh spot in SF. Don’t you love those people you spend time with and places you visit that make you feel at home? That’s what this past weekend felt like for me.

[...] A few weeks ago, I posted about Not For Sale, an organization striving to bring awareness to the huge issue of human trafficking. Their mission is simple: Stand with those who are enslaved, work together to free them, and empower them in their freedom to break the cycle of vulnerability. Today and tomorrow, I’ll be at their event Global Forum on Human Trafficking. The event features over 50 speakers from around the world, including actress Mira Sorvino,Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, boxing World Champion Manny Pacquiao, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey. I’m especially excited to hear Kindley Walsh-Lawlor, VP of Social and Environmental Responsibility at Gap, speak! [...]
